Beef is a Superfood - Women's Health

We all have amazing mothers and women in our lives, or we are ourselves – this information is for all of you. Choosing the light salad over a big juicy steak has been a stereotyped ‘girl dinner’, but what are we missing by skipping the red meat?

🌸 Heart Health and Inflammation

Heart disease is the number one cause of premature death in Canadian women (it exceeds the rate of breast cancer by 3 times!)

Few women are aware of these stats and signs and symptoms can differ between sexes making it difficult to detect.

Grass fed beef contains less fat than conventional grocery store beef but it contains more omega 3 essential fatty acids that support anti-inflammatory pathways and heart health

🌸 Energy and Body Composition

Your hip to waist ratio is a marker for metabolic health. We all want to feel energized and strong in our bodies. Optimal body composition means that we have lots of lean muscle compared to body fat–particularly in our midsection which can increase your chances of cardiometabolic disease (heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome).

Hitting a protein target each day of 1g/lb of body weight with quality protein sources helps to support body composition and delivers a heavy hit of B vitamins to support energy and carbohydrate metabolism.

Grass fed beef contains more B vitamins than grain fed beef, specifically B3, B6 and B12.

🌸 Beef: Where Your Iron Really Comes From

Although many foods contain forms of iron, red meat contains the form of iron that is best used by the body. Spinach and beef might show similar amounts of iron content per portion on paper, but once digested only 2% of the iron from spinach is absorbed 2
